Are My Classes Cancelled?

In the event of cancellations, late openings, or early dismissals, here’s how you can tell if your class will be meeting on that day.

If there is a 1 hour delay
Classes that normally begin before 8:30am are cancelled.
Classes that normally begin between 8:30am and 9:00am will begin at 9:00am, and end at their regularly scheduled time.
Classes that normally begin after 9:00am will be held as regularly scheduled.
Examples: a class starting at 8:00am would be cancelled; an 8:30am-9:50am class would begin at 9am and run until 9:50am.
If there is a 2 hour delay

Classes that normally begin before 10am are cancelled and 10am classes will begin and end at their regularly scheduled time. Nursing Class and Clinical will begin at 10am.

If all morning classes are cancelled

Classes that normally begin before 11:30am are cancelled and 11:30am classes will begin and end at their regularly scheduled time.

If all afternoon and evening classes are cancelled

All classes that normally begin at 1pm or later are cancelled.

If all evening classes are cancelled

All classes that normally begin at 4pm or later are cancelled.

If there is an early dismissal

An announcement will be made by 2pm.

All remaining day, afternoon, and evening classes for that day are cancelled.

Keep in mind that Capital Community College cancellations, etc, may differ from Hartford K-12 school systems. If closed or delayed openings are not publicized on television, on the radio, or on our website, we are OPEN and classes are being held as normally scheduled.

Employees

In case of inclement weather, employees should assume that they are expected to report to work as scheduled unless the President of his/her designee has announced that the College will be closed or that there will be a delayed opening; or unless the Governor has ordered non-essential state employees not to report to work or to report to work late. Employees should also assume that they are expected to remain at work until the end of their established work day unless an announcement of early closing is made.

Whenever the college is forced to cancel classes, it will be announced at the above local radio and televisions stations. In the event that a storm begins during the day and evening classes are to be canceled, that decision will be made by approximately 2pm. In case of delayed openings, the class schedule will pick up at the hour designated for opening; i.e., if school opens at 10am, the school day will begin with the 10am class. Evening classes are not automatically canceled when day classes are canceled.

Capital Community College faculty and staff will receive a system-wide voice mail message regarding weather-related closings or cancellations.
