INTRODUCTION TO OPERATING SYSTEMS

This course covers fundamentals, concepts, and applications of operating systems. A
number of popular operating systems will be covered in depth, including MS-DOS,
IBM Mainframe MVS, and DEC’s Open VMS. Unix will be discussed. It is assumed
that students are familiar with the Windows environment. Comparisons between
Windows and other operating systems will be stressed. The course is a mixture
of lecture and lab. Formerly listed as CIS 130, not open to students who have
successfully completed CIS 130. Prerequisite: CSC* 101.
