HUMANITIES SEMINAR

HUM* 195

The Humanities is the study of what it means to be human. As a discipline, it explores
the human experience as expressed in literature, history, philosophy, art history,
music history, theater and film study, religion, and languages, and is concerned
with such fundamental concepts as culture, identity, community, expression, rights,
responsibilities, freedom, and empowerment. The Humanities Seminar provides
an introduction to Humanistic inquiry through a thematic study determined by
the individual instructor. Designed specifically for Hartford Heritage Learning
Communities, the Humanities Seminar can also function as a stand-alone course.
Co-requisite: English 101.
