HISPANIC-AMERICAN LITERATURE

ENG* 253

This course will explore representative stories, novels, plays, and poems written
in English by Hispanic Americans or Latinos/Latinas. Focusing primarily upon
late 20th century and contemporary literary works by mainland Puerto Rican,
Dominican-American, Cuban-American and Chicano/a writers, we will examine
cultural and linguistic elements that make Latino literature a vital sub-genre of
American Literature today. Prerequisite: ENG* 102.
