GENERAL PHYSICS I

This course addresses fundamental principles and properties related to
mechanics, matter, heat and sound. Topics include kinematics, forces and
Newton’s Laws of Motion, dynamics of uniform circular motion, work and energy,
momentum, elasticity, fluids, temperature and heat, kinetic theory of gases,
thermodynamics, waves and sound. Course includes three hours of classroom
instruction and three hours of laboratory each week. Prerequisite: Grade of C- or
better in MAT* G137, grade of C- or better in MAT*G139, grade of C- or better
in MAT*G184, or eligibility for MAT* G172 via qualifying score on mathematics
placement test.
