Job Training and Courses

Milner Elementary School

CCC provides job training for parents of students at Milner Elementary School, both in English and Spanish.   Future programs held at the school will include financial literacy workshops and ESL classes.

Courses in Spanish

CCC provides contract training in Spanish for area organizations and their members/customers.  Recently, CCC conducted a Child Development Associate preparation course in Spanish for the Family Childcare Providers Union.  Students who completed the course were able to apply for the Childcare Development Credential.  In addition to the CDA preparation course, CCC will try to accommodate area organization’s requests for courses to be provided in Spanish, or other languages.

CCC’s FIRST Center

Bilingual Community Advocate

Through a new partnership between the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) and CCC’s FIRST CENTER (located in Room 319), CCC students and members of the community are now able to meet with a bilingual Community Advocate on campus to receive support on a wide range of legal issues.   Nilda Rivera, who has over 13 years of experience in family law and employment discrimination, is able to assist clients with:

  • General legal information
  • Completing court forms
  • Attorney and community agency referrals

When her schedule permits, Ms. Rivera also accompanies some clients to court for moral support. This free service is strictly confidential and open to all students and community members, including family members of students.

Ms. Rivera is available every other Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00pm and is also available other times/days by appointment.   To schedule an appointment, please contact Hannah Gregory, Program Coordinator of the FIRST Center at (860)906-5080 or CWEALF at 860-610-6058 or 860-524-0601.
