BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY

The Business & Technology Department at Capital offers an array of programs in the areas of Accounting, Architectural Engineering, Computer & Information Systems, Computer Networking, Computer Support Services, Construction Management, Insurance and Financial Services, and Management. In order to give greater flexibility to our students, a number of these courses are offered through our Distance Learning Program.

HEALTH CAREERS & PUBLIC SAFETY

The Health Careers Department conducts programs in Emergency Management Response, Emergency Medical Technology, Medical Assisting, Health Information Management, Pre-Nursing and Radiological Technology.

HUMANITIES

The Humanities Department, comprising Art, English, Languages, Music, and Philosophy, serves to guide and educate students to reflect critically on the role of the humanities in their personal and professional growth; to connect students to the rich cultural mosaic of Hartford, the region, and the world; and to foster a vibrant environment of artistic and scholarly activities for the college and surrounding communities.

NURSING

The Connecticut Community College Nursing Program (CT-CCNP) at Capital is an innovative associate degree program of study offered in the heart of Hartford, Connecticut. The program serves a diverse population of students, offers excellent clinical sites, and has a thirty plus year record of proven success.

SCIENCE & MATHEMATICS

The Science and Mathematics Department is dedicated to offering engaging learning opportunities in science and mathematics for students with a diverse range of academic and career interests. These learning opportunities emphasize the acquisition of mathematical and scientific knowledge as well as the development of quantitative and scientific reasoning skills. By engaging in the study of science and mathematics, students experience how these academic areas are integral and applicable to their lives.

SOCIAL & BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES

We thank you for your enthusiasm and interest in Social Sciences. The Social Science faculty is committed to strengthening educational programs and course offerings. As a departmental goal, we continue to strive toward diversity with an eye toward maintaining a mixture of courses which are intellectually challenging, enriching, and rewarding.

ACADEMIC MEDIA TECHNOLOGY

The Academic Media Technology Department is a creative production and teaching center that focuses on the effective application of technology and the media arts to the teaching-learning process at the College. The department offers a wide range of consulting, design, production, distribution, and training programs that encompass the following major functions: instructional multimedia development, online learning, classroom technology, and degree & certificate programs in Communication media.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER

A wide range of academic support services are available to all students who are currently enrolled at the college, free of charge. Services include tutoring, academic coaching, placement test preparation, and specialized workshops. ASC staff work with students to achieve their learning goals, promote organization, and improve study methods and test-taking skills. Tutors provide support both in the Center and in the classroom.

LIBRARY

The Arthur C. Banks, Jr. Library is located on the entire 5th floor and is an integral part of the educational process at Capital Community College. In support of CCC’s mission, the library provides a broad range of services and resources. Serving students, faculty, and staff, the library offers access to computers, and a collection of over 45,000 print volumes and many research databases including subjects such as nursing, literature, history, business, psychology and sociology. All databases can be accessed both on and off-campus using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.
