A Message from the Academic Dean

Dean-Thomas-No-GlassesDear Students of Capital Community College,

It has been said many times before that “Life is a journey, not a destination.” I would contend that, in fact, life is comprised of many journeys and many destinations! Some are more difficult than others and, thus, require us to work harder than we ever thought possible. Do not be discouraged. Embark upon each journey, taking one day at a time until one day you will realize that what once seemed “impossible,” is most definitely possible. With every step you take, no matter how big or small, you are one step closer to achieving your dreams. No matter how daunting the challenges you may encounter along the way, I encourage you to stay the course. Be steadfast. The way forward may not always be easy but I assure you, it will indeed be worth the sacrifices you may make along the way.

Your journey is in essence a race. It is a marathon, not a sprint. You are the runner and along the way if you find yourself growing tired or weary, always remember that you are not alone. You have an entire college here to support you. If it is true that “it takes a village,” then rest assured, Capital Community College is your village. We will be there for you at every turn to metaphorically give you “water” when you grow thirsty, a towel to wipe the sweat from your brow, track shoes with strong soles/souls for your endurance, and of course, coaching to guide and direct you so, you will complete the higher education journey. We will be with you every step of the way cheering you on and believing in you. So, take a deep breath and hold your head high. You are about to get your second wind! You got this!

With Heartfelt Support,
Your Dean of Academic Affairs,

Dr. Debbie G. Thomas
