For the 5th year, Capital Community College is offering a Summer Computer Science Program for students aged 12-15. The program will provide a stimulating, active, and fun learning environment for students while introducing them to the field and study of computer science.
The summer program will run from July 9-July 20, 8:30 am-4 pm. Students will be provided lunch every day of the program, but they must have their own transportation to and from the college. The cost is $200 per student. Thanks to generous support from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, need-based scholarships are available for Hartford and East Hartford residents.
The Summer Computer Science Program is designed both for students with no knowledge of computer science, and for students with previous knowledge. The only requirement is an interest and eagerness to learn.
Students in the program will learn how to design and create web pages and mobile apps on Android smartphones. Students will be introduced to a range of programming environments and tools. Students will also participate in leadership activities and build skills in team-working, problem-solving, critical thinking and presentation.
To apply to the program, parents/guardians must complete an application form, which can be accessed at www.capitalcc.edu/csprogram
