April 6, 2016

For the third year, Capital Community College is offering a Summer Computer Science Program for students aged 12-15. The program provides a stimulating, active, and fun learning environment for students while introducing them to the field and study of computer science. The Summer Computer Science Program is designed BOTH for students with no knowledge of computer science, and for students with previous knowledge. Previous knowledge is not required – what is required is an interest and eagerness to learn.

Students in the program will learn how to design and create web pages and mobile apps on Android smartphones, and about CyberSecurity and basic computer networking. Additionally, students will participate in youth development and leadership activities to build skills in teamworking, collaborations, problem-solving, critical thinking and presentation.

The Summer Computer Science Program will run from July 11-July 22, 8:30 am-4 pm. Students will be provided lunch every day of the program, but they must have their own transportation to and from the college. The cost is $300 per student. Need-based scholarships may be available for Hartford and East Hartford residents.

To apply to the program, parents/guardians must complete an application form, which can be accessed at
